Updating Firmware
IF1200A Firmware Updating
Upgrade the Aircraft Firmware
Note: Firmware upgrades are only necessary if advised by Inspired Flight. The aircraft comes with firmware installed at the factory.
Mission Planner needs to be installed on a PC to update IF1200A firmware.
STEP | ACTION |

1 | The aircraft does not need to be powered ON. 5V PC power is sufficient. |
2 | Open Mission Planner on a PC (install the program if necessary) |
3 | Open the Settings tab, then Vehicle Setup |
4 | Click on Firmware |
5 | Connect a USB-C to USB-A cable between the aircraft’s USB port (see below), and the device with Mission Planner. |
6 | Connect to the vehicle using the MavLink COM Port connection. Note: the COM number may change but always select the "MavLink" option. Then, select Connect. (upper right) |
7 | Save your current parameters for your records. Click, Config > Full Parameter Tree > Save to file. (Fig. 1) |
8 | Click, Set-Up > Install Firmware > click Load Custom Firmware. Locate the IFT verified Ardupilot .APJ file on your PC and install the firmware. (Fig. 2) |
9 | Wait about one minute for the firmware to update. |
9 | In the Set-up tab, open Mandatory Hardware > Frame Type. And confirm 'X. Y6A' is selected (Fig. 3 below) |
10 | Disconnect the USB cable from the aircraft. |
