# IF800 Battery Failsafe

A battery failsafe can occur at any moment during flying. Depending on the configuration it can trigger an RTL and/or a LAND flight mode. This is by design to keep the batteries in safe operating voltage and avoid sudden power loss of the aircraft. It is important to be aware of the battery voltage thresholds on the IF800 system. These thresholds are what trigger the failsafe. &#x20;

#### Low Battery

On the IF800, the **Low Battery** default threshold is **21.75v**. This will trigger an RTL. It will follow the **RTL** parameters defined in the safety tab in IGC. These parameters can determine climb altitude to clear tree lines and other obstacles.

**Hint:** If the aircraft does not have a clear path and is on a **collision course**, take manual control by switching flight modes into **LOITER** or **POSITION HOLD** first before regaining manual control. During the landing phase of RTL the pilot can adjust the horizontal position slightly without changing flight modes if that landing area is not safe.&#x20;

#### Critical Battery

On the IF800, the **Critical Battery** default threshold is **21.10v**. This will trigger the LAND flight mode. It will follow the **LAND** parameters. The aircraft will LAND in place. Ensure that the landing area is **clear**.&#x20;

**Hint**: In **LAND** mode the pilot can adjust the horizontal position slightly without switching flight modes if the landing area is not safe. To take over the aircraft it is necessary to switch into **LOITER** or **POSITION HOLD** first before regaining manual control.
