The GCS is typically a laptop or tablet that has one of the following ground station software applications installed:
QGroundControl (QGC)
Laptop, Tablet, Controller (Herelink Controllers)
Mission Planner
Laptop, Tablet, Controller (Herelink Controllers)
In both connection scenarios, the GCS must be set up so that either the HereLink hotspot, or a WiFi network, are listed in the device’s Network & Internet Settings.
Connect HereLink to BOTH Mission Planner and QGC
Use the Wireless Hotspot in the HereLink Hand Control
Connect HereLink to Mission Planner
Through a WiFi Network
Connect HereLink and QGroundControl
Through a WiFi Network
NOTE: When setting up a wireless connection between a HereLink hand control and a GCS with Mission Planner installed, the Remote Port (in Mission Planner), must have one of two settings:
Connecting to HereLink Hotspot [14450]
Connecting via a common WiFi network [14552]
1
On the HereLink, go to Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot (see Fig. 1 below)
2
Enable Portable WiFi hotspot (the button on the right side of the screen). A Set up Wi-Fi hotspot dialog window appears (Fig. 2).
3
Record the Network name and Security information that appears in the dialog window (Fig. 2). This information will be used later.
4
On the GCS, open the Network & Internet Settings, and Enter the network name and security information for the HereLink hotspot (from the previous step).
5
Connect your ground control software application to the HereLink:
QGroundControl (QGC) After performing the previous steps, QGC will automatically connect to the HereLink when QGC is opened. End of Procedure for QGC.
Mission Planner See below
1
Open Mission Planner
2
In the upper-right corner of Mission Planner, click on the down arrow to open the communication protocol dropdown menu, and select UDP (Fig. 3).
