# Mapping

Aerial mapping with IFT vehicles is accomplished through the use of high resolution cameras and electronically stabilized gimbals. With these systems, pilots are able to seamlessly perform a variety of mapping operations.

Typical use cases are 3D mapping, land surveying, photogrammetry, or topographic surveying. Mapping, broadly, refers to the process of capturing images in the air and using software to digitally “stitch” them together into a comprehensive map of a worksite. Images are typically comprised of RGB, multispectral, thermal, or LiDAR data.

Mapping missions utilizing IFT vehicles and various payload configurations allows for high-resolution imagery used in creating detailed and accurate maps, a cost-effective and time-efficient solution versus traditional mapping methods, provides real-time data allowing maps to be updated quickly and efficiently, flexibility with options to be programmed to fly a specific mission or manually operated for industrial inspections, finally UAV operations are a safe and efficient way to access areas in environments/terrain that proves difficult for humans to reach.
