Updating VIO Payload App Software

This page instructs on how to update Gremsy VIO F1 Payload App Software to v2.0.0.5. This update is meant to be in conjunction with updating IGC to v1.2 or later.

Tools Required:

Laptop

USB-C Cable (able to connect to laptop)

VIO payload

Vehicle with dovetail

Batteries or Power supply that can connect to the vehicle

PROCEDURE:

Setting up the computer + downloading the software file:

  1. Download the Vio_sw_package.zip file onto your computer

    1. Keep compressed/ do not extract

  2. Connect the VIO to a drone with a dovetail

  3. Open the latch on the underside of the VIO

  4. Power on the Aircraft

  1. Let the gimbal initialize (Takes ~90 seconds, the gimbal will stop moving when complete.)

  2. Plug the USB-C cable into your computer and connect it to the bottom of the VIO

Connect the USB-C to the bottom of the vio, as shown.
  1. After plugging in the VIO, if using a Windows PC, follow the steps to set a Static Ethernet IP Address:

  1. Open a web browser and enter the following:

    1. 192.168.55.1:8000

  2. Gremsy GUI should appear. (See screenshot below).

  1. Click 'OTA update'.

  2. Click 'Manual Update'

  3. In the uploader, upload .zip file 'Vio_sw_package.zip' and click 'Update'. (See screenshot below).

Upload Vio_sw_package.zip. After the update is complete you will see the success message. NOTE: Disregard the shown firmware versions of the Video Streaming, Vio settings App, and Gimbal Firmware. These versions may not align with your device's firmware versions.
  1. Wait for the “update successful” screen and press 'OK'.

    1. Do not interrupt the drones power for the entire duration of the firmware update

    2. The web GUI will lose connections as the VIO performs the firmware update

    3. The Vio will continue the update and reboot

  2. Wait until the feed has returned to the controller and the web GUI reappears.

Check that the version is v2.0.0.5 after the update has completed. NOTE: Disregard the firmware versions for Video Streaming, Vio Settings, and Gimbal; these may differ on your device.
  1. Check that the VIO payload app software version is: v2.0.0.5

  2. Update is complete! You may now power off the drone
