In addition to your NAV RTK BASE gear, you will also need:
IF1200 or IF800 with Herelink Blue GCS
A laptop with Mission Planner installed
A tripod (recommended >6.5 ft high)
Power on the aircraft and the controller.
On the controller, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the device settings.
Tap and hold the wireless & networks symbol.
Select 'Tethering & Portable Hotspot'
Select 'Set up Wi-Fi hotspot'.
Set desired network name and password, then tap 'Save' to close the menu.
Activate the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot by sliding the toggle.
On the laptop, connect to the controller’s hotspot via your wifi settings. The aircraft can now be piloted with the controller with RTK present.
You can confirm RTK is working by clicking the satellite symbol on the top bar and seeing ‘RTK (fixed)’.
Open Mission Planner on your computer. If the vehicle tries to connect to Mission Planner, cancel any popups that appear, as vehicle connection is not needed for RTK pass-through.
After the base station has been setup.
Open Mission Planner on the laptop that the base station is plugged into.
Navigate to 'SETUP' > 'Optional Hardware' > 'RTK/GPS Inject'
Press the green 'Connect' button to connect to the base station through its COM port, the baud rate will update automatically. Check the boxes 'Autoconfig' and 'M8P fw 130+/F9P'.
If the connection fails, you may have the wrong com port selected. Try unplugging and replugging, verifying the com port by viewing your computer's device manager, OR try a different com port in the dropdown.
Enter your desired absolute geographic accuracy in meters in the 'SurveyIn Acc(m)' box and your desired minimum survey time in seconds in the 'Time(s)' box.
Click the green 'Restart' button (see below) to start a new round of surveying. You should observe the Duration count increasing and the Current Acc decreasing. You are now ready to continue flight as normal.
NOTE: A solid connection with at least 8 satellites is required for RTK to work.
To determine when the base station has reached your desired absolute geographic accuracy, the red areas in the 'RTCM' frame and the 'Survey In' frame will turn green and will read 'Position is Valid'. This indicates a ‘fixed’ signal. You are now ready to continue to flight as normal.
To reuse the current position for future surveying, click 'Save Current Position' and set your desired name. You will now be able to reuse this position at any time by clicking the 'Use' button for that position.
