Upgrade the Aircraft Firmware

The aircraft does not need to be powered ON. 5V PC power is sufficient.

Open Mission Planner on a PC (install the program if necessary)

Open the Settings tab, then Vehicle Setup

Click on Firmware

Connect a USB-C to USB-A cable between the aircraft’s USB port (see below), and the device with Mission Planner.

Connect to the vehicle using the MavLink COM Port connection. Note: the COM number may change but always select the "MavLink" option. Then, select Connect. (upper right)

Save your current parameters for your records. Click, Config > Full Parameter Tree > Save to file. (Fig. 1)

Click, Set-Up > Install Firmware > click Load Custom Firmware. Locate the IFT verified Ardupilot .APJ file on your PC and install the firmware. (Fig. 2)

Wait about one minute for the firmware to update.

In the Set-up tab, open Mandatory Hardware > Frame Type. And confirm 'X. Y6A' is selected (Fig. 3 below)

Disconnect the USB cable from the aircraft.
