Area of Operation has been identified and airspace has been checked and authorization has been obtained if applicable. (B4UFLY, Aloft Air Control)
Pilot in Command (PIC), Remote Pilot (RP) and/or Visual Observer (VO) have been identified and are present and ready for aircraft operations.
Launch area is clear of debris, landing pad unfurled (if applicable), and site secured for operations.
Landing gear installed and engaged properly (check engagement window). Ensure 4 thumb screws are tightened per the specifications in the IF1200A Pilot Operating Handbook.
Batteries installed with battery latch and GPS antennae in position over batteries and secured.
Ensure batteries have enough power (minimum 2 solid LEDs on each battery) and battery cable connectors are fully engaged.
All six arms are lifted and secured in place with no mobility in the shoulder joint once secured.
Propellers are unfolded, straight, and free from visible defects (no nicks, chips, or deep scratches).
Motors rotate freely, without impediment.
Payload Rails are secured and cannot rotate or move laterally.
Payload/Gimbal (if any) installed and connectors secure. Ensure wires will not interfere with gimbal operations.
Hand controller antennae are installed and the hand controller is powered on and at 50% power or better. (Start up QGround Control app at this time).
CAUTION! While aircraft and hand controller are powered on, to avoid accidental arming of the aircraft, ensure the hand controller isn’t being touched or manipulated.
Clear the launch area, and ensure all personnel are moved to a safe distance of roughly 15 to 20 feet from the aircraft prior to powering on the aircraft.
Power on the controller, close out any Apps running in the background. [press the square icon on HL > swipe away/close out all open Apps.]
Power on the aircraft. As the drone is booting up, open the Herelink Settings App & navigate to the Remote ID tab. [more detailed steps are here: Arming w/ RID]
Open QGC, allow parameters to fully load. 10+ satellites will yield tone for GPS lock.
Listen for the startup sequence of tones from the ESCs.
Listen for the successful boot tone from the Autopilot.
Ensure the hand controller is connected to the aircraft and parameters are downloaded.
If a mission is programmed, ensure it has been loaded to the aircraft.
Ensure that any gimbal or payload are operating as required/expected.
Ensure the failsafe parameters are appropriate for the mission.
Tilt and turn aircraft by hand enough to determine that heading, attitude, and altitude are reflected accurately on the hand controller.
Ensure aircraft battery life is reflected on the hand controller and is sufficient to support the mission, or at minimum 50%.
Ensure the hand controller registers >10 GPS satellites.
Ensure the aircraft GPS antennae LEDs are flashing green.
Ensure the flight mode is set to Loiter.
Clear launch area of personnel and ensure all personnel are at a safe distance.
PIC or RP conduct a mission overview and safety briefing.
Announce intent to arm the aircraft (“CLEAR TO ARM!”) and arm the aircraft for flight.
Ensure all propellers are balanced and spinning.
You are now clear to fly!
